Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s MSME and Industries departments on Tuesday organised a state-level workshop on “Leveraging Free Trade Agreements” to help local businesses and exporters tap opportunities in international markets.

MSME Minister Gokulananda Mallik, who attended the workshop at Mayfair Convention here, said global markets offered new avenues for prosperity. The workshop aimed to familiarise local industrialists, exporters and entrepreneurs with the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) signed by the Government of India with various countries and guide them on maximising the benefits of these trade arrangements, he said.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain stressed the need to enhance Odisha’s export capacity and strengthen the state’s participation in international trade. He expressed confidence that the initiative would help local businesses expand their presence in global markets.

The workshop was organised jointly by the Odisha government’s MSME Department and the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, along with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), with the objective of translating India’s FTAs into business opportunities for Odisha.

Agrim Kaushal, Senior Economic Adviser and Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Rashmita Panda, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the MSME Department; Aboli Sunil Narwane, Director of Industries; and Manoj Singh, Assistant Director General of Foreign Trade, attended the programme.

Senior officials, industrialists and trade experts also participated in the workshop.
