Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State-Level Geeta Chanting Competition and Geeta Jnana Pariksha will be organised for school, college and university students across the state, the Department of Higher Education said in a communication issued on August 7.
Organised by Prajnana Mission, the programmes will focus on the sixth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, Atmasamyam Yoga.
The State-Level Geeta Chanting Competition will be held on December 26 and 27 at Hariharananda Gurukulam, Balighai, in Puri district.
Students who emerge as winners in the district-level competitions will qualify to participate in the state-level event. Winners at the state level will be awarded scholarships for one year.
The Department of Higher Education has clarified that students will not have to pay any participation fee for the Geeta Chanting Competition.
The Odisha State-Level Geeta Jnana Pariksha will also be conducted as part of the initiative. The examination schedule and other details will be announced separately by the organisers. Students interested in appearing for the examination will have to register online and pay the prescribed examination fee.
The department has urged all universities and government and non-government-aided colleges to encourage interested students to participate in the programmes.
An Odia booklet prepared by the organisers has also been circulated among educational institutions for wider dissemination among students.
The initiative aims to provide students across Odisha an opportunity to learn about the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and participate in competitions at the district and state levels.
