Odisha Vigilance Arrests Former PEO For Misappropriation Of Govt Funds

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Surendra Bhatra, Ex-PEO (now under suspension), Parchipara GP and Kacharapada-III GP under Raighar Block in Nabarangpur district, and will be forwarded to the court for misappropriation of government funds over Rs 65 lakh allotted to the above GPs concerned.

Funds worth over Rs 50 lakhs allotted to Kacharapada-III GP and over Rs 15 lakhs to Parchipara GP. Bhatra misused these funds without executing different developmental works during the year 2023-24.

In this connection, Odisha Vigilance has registered two cases at Koraput Vigilance police station on Saturday under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, 316(5) of BNS, 2023, against Bhatra.

Further investigation into the case is in progress.
