Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested Pradeep Kumar Rath, Additional Chief Engineer, Odisha Bridge And Construction Corporation (OBCC), following the detection of disproportionate assets (DA) worth crores of rupees during simultaneous searches conducted at 12 locations linked to the accused on Monday.
Aside from the disproportionate assets unearthed on Monday, Vigilance sleuths found three more plots in Dhenkanal worth around Rs 1 crore during the searches.
According to a press release issued by the Odisha Vigilance Department on Tuesday, based on searches conducted on properties of Rath, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including two multi-storied buildings, two high-value flats in Bhubaneswar, 45 plots (3 more plots worth around Rs 1 crore), a medicine store, and a stone crusher unit registered in his and his family members names. In addition, gold approx 1 kg, deposits over Rs 1.62 crore, two four-wheelers, two JCBs, one Excavator, one rock breaker etc, were unearthed during the searches. Rath reportedly could not account for these assets satisfactorily.
Following this, Rath has been placed under arrest by Odisha Vigilance and will be forwarded to court on Tuesday for possessing DA.
Cuttack Vigilance PS has registered a case against Rath in this connection.
