Keonjhar: In a major anti-corruption drive, the Odisha Vigilance has arrested Dhumaram Murmu, Assistant Civil Supplies Officer (ACSO) of Champua block in Keonjhar district, while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
According to the Vigilance, Murmu was caught red-handed today at his office while demanding and accepting the bribe from the In-charge of a Local Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (LAMPCS).
The bribe was allegedly taken in connection with paddy procurement under the current Kharif Marketing Season (KMS).The Vigilance team seized the entire bribe amount of ₹15,000 from his possession.
Following the trap, simultaneous raids have been conducted at his residential and other linked locations to gather further evidence.
It is alleged that the ACSO was habitually demanding bribes from several paddy procurement centres in the area.
A case has been registered against him at Balasore Vigilance Police Station vide Case No. 08/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Further investigation is underway.
