Odisha’s BSKY Conferred With SKOCH Gold Award

Bhubaneswar: Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana ( BSKY), the flagship scheme of the State government launched under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been conferred with Gold (1st) position of much coveted National SKOCH Award for the year 2023.

The award was received by Chief Executive Officer of State Health Assurance Society (SHAS) Dr D. Brundha along with Additional Secretary Health & Family Welfare Department  and Joint CEO SHAS Subhananda Mohapatra from Chairman, SKOCH  Sameer Kochhar at New Delhi on Saturday evening in presence of many dignitaries of national and international repute.

BSKY has been conferred with this national award in health sector because of its, innovativeness, inclusivity, transparency, and effectiveness. The scheme, a class of its own has brought about observable transformation in universal healthcare scenario of Odisha.

All 119.8 lakh families of Odisha with around 4.79 cr population have been included under BSKY Componenet-1 for free universal treatment in all government health facilities including high end pathological tests. Besides, 99.3 lakh economically vulnerable families with around 3.56 cr members have been brought under the umbrella of BSKY Componenet-2 for cashless treatment in empanelled hospitals both inside and outside the State.

So far, 816 private sector super specialty hospitals from 17 States including Odisha have been brought under the fold of BSKY wherein all BSKY/ration card holders of Odisha get cashless treatment. Support staffs of BSKY called Swasthy Mitras stay available at empanelled hospitals for extending handholding support to the BSKY card holder patients.

The scheme, with its comprehensive and well-structured IT frame   has been kept dynamic, and open ended for catering to the changing health needs of the people of Odisha.

Secretary Health and Family Welfare Shalini Pandit while complementing the Whole Team of BSKY urged them to keep up the good works in service of the people with all care and alertness on 24×7 basis.

It may be pertinent to mention here that this time BSKY bagged SKOCH Gold Award for the second time.  The scheme was also conferred with the award in GOLD position for the year 2019.
