Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday expressed great pride over the excellent display and national recognition of Odisha’s mango varieties.

In a statement, CM Majhi said that various improved and hybrid varieties of mangoes from the state were exhibited and highly appreciated during the Zonal Conference held in Bhubaneswar.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the hardworking farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs of Odisha for this remarkable achievement,” the Chief Minister said.

Highlighting some of the notable varieties, he mentioned ‘Similton Sundari’ from Mayurbhanj, ‘Baldev’ from Keonjhar, ‘Jahangir’ from Balangir, and ‘Belagaja’ from Dhenkanal, along with the world-famous ‘Miyazaki’ mango. These varieties reflect the skill, dedication, and hard work of Odisha’s farmers, he added.

CM Majhi also expressed delight over the recent export of Dhenkanal’s famous ‘Amrapali’ mango to the London market, saying it has brought glory to the state.

“The tireless efforts of our farmers, adoption of modern technology, and strong coordination with Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) have helped Odisha’s mangoes create a distinct identity in both domestic and international markets,” the Chief Minister noted.

Stating that farmers are the real strength of the state’s economy, Majhi reiterated that his government is fully committed to farmers’ welfare. He assured continuous support through modern knowledge, better market linkages, and fair prices for their produce to promote the overall growth of horticulture in Odisha.

“I firmly believe that this success in the agriculture sector will play a major role in building a prosperous Odisha in the coming days,” CM Majhi added.
