Bhubaneswar: A three-day Odissi dance workshop commenced at the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre (GKCMORC) here on Wednesday under the aegis of the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department.
The workshop, being held from June 10 to 12, 2026, is being conducted under the guidance of renowned Odissi exponent Padma Shri Madhavi Mudgal.
During the training programme, participants are being imparted instruction in a performance based on “Kha Champu” (Kisorachandrananda Champu), composed by legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.
More than 50 dancers have participated in the workshop, which aims to provide intensive training in traditional Odissi choreography and repertoire. Participants described the experience of learning compositions of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra under the mentorship of Madhavi Mudgal as enriching and unique.
Officials of the Odissi Research Centre said that certificates will be awarded to all trainees upon successful completion of the workshop.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by eminent dancer Sikata Das, Administrative Officer Suchismita Mantry, and other officials of GKCMORC.
