Angul: One person was killed and 15 persons were injured when a bus they were travelling in rammed into a truck from behind in Angul district.
The road accident occurred in the wee hours of Friday near Luhamunda under the Baindha area under Handapa police station in Angul district.
As per report, the mishap took place around 2 to 3 am when the passenger bus named Dilkhus traveling from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda rammed into a truck ahead of it from behind. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely damaged.
Local residents, police, and fire services immediately rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. The injured were shifted to Angul District Headquarters Hospital. One of the injured passengers succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Fifteen passengers were reported to be in serious condition, out of which 14 critically injured victims were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment. The accident caused traffic disruption on the road for some time.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.
