Bhubaneswar: One labourer was killed and two others were injured when a passenger train hit a railway trolley being used for track maintenance at Rayagada railway station.
The incident happened on Platform No. 4 when the Visakhapatnam-Raipur passenger train (Train No. 58528) struck the trolley.
According to reports, the labourers operating the trolley attempted to lift it off the tracks as the train approached, but part of it got stuck, leading to the collision. The trolley was being operated by contractual labourers from the Railway engineering department.
The deceased’s identity has not been confirmed, while the injured have been identified as Babula Shaha and Sushant Das. Both are undergoing treatment for critical injuries.
The incident has sparked concerns about safety protocols during railway maintenance operations.
