Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Friday held an organisational meeting at Congress Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, focusing on strengthening the party structure and expanding its reach at the grassroots level across the state.

The meeting was chaired by newly appointed AICC In-Charge of Odisha Lalji Desai. OPCC President Bhakta Charan Das, Leader of Opposition Rama Chandra Kadam, former PCC Presidents Niranjan Patnaik, Sarat Pattanayak and Prasad Kumar Harichandan, Koraput MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, along with senior vice presidents, organisational heads, MLAs and other senior leaders attended the meeting.

According to the party sources, discussions during the meeting centred on revitalising the organisation, improving coordination among party units, and strengthening the Congress presence at the block and district levels.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Lalji Desai said the party would intensify its organisational activities across Odisha and take up issues affecting the people more aggressively.

He said the Congress would raise concerns related to unemployment, migration, women and child trafficking, issues faced by students in examinations such as NEET, and alleged exploitation linked to mining and large corporate houses. He also highlighted issues affecting tribal communities and daily wage workers.

Desai further said the party has decided to undertake district-wise visits in the coming days to strengthen its organisational base and connect with people at the grassroots level.

“Our aim is to win the hearts of the people of Odisha. Once we win their trust, we will win elections,” Desai said, adding that the party’s focus would remain on building a strong organisational network before the electoral battle.
