Dhenkanal: The Dhenkanal police, led by Superintendent of Police (SP), conducted a special enforcement drive under the caption “Operation Garud” from August 1 to August 10, 2025. The operation aimed to execute warrants, detect arms, and take preventive actions under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) ahead of the festival season.
During the drive, the Dhenkanal police achieved significant results, including execution of 73 warrants and disposal of 36 non-bailable warrants, detection of six arms and the seizure of the same, leading to the arrest of seven persons for keeping illegal arms without valid licenses.
Police also submitted prosecutions against 306 persons under Section 126 BNSS (equivalent to Section 107 of the CrPC).
Other achievements include, the application of preventive sections against 49 persons under Section 129 BNSS (equivalent to Section 110 of the CrPC), the detection of 41 excise cases, with 12 persons arrested and 29 released on bail bond.
The SP expressed gratitude to all the officers-in-charge of Dhenkanal district for their dedication and hard work, which resulted in a large number of antisocial elements being kept behind bars.
