Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has taken stringent action to curb the sale and consumption of various narcotics and psychotropic substances in urban areas of Bhubaneswar.
While efforts are underway at different police station level to curb the menace, specially constituted ‘Operation White Spider’, property offence prevention and detection (POPD) and C60 teams are keeping a close eye on the menace, said an official press release.
In the current year, between January 1 to 31 in five cases 12 drug peddlers were caught and a total of 94 gm brown sugar for sale, Rs 10,965 in cash, nine mobile phones and five two-wheelers were seized from them, the release said.
Similarly, while between January 1 to 31, a total of six persons have been arrested and forwarded to court in three cases registered at different police stations, a total of 143.550 kg of ganja, Rs 2450 in cash and two two/four wheelers have been seized.
