Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday kept its verdict reserved in the case pertaining to the Ratna Bhandar of Puri Shree Jagannath Temple.
“The division bench of Chief Justice Subhasis Talapatra and Justice Savitri Ratho today gave a patient and long hearing to the case related to Puri Shree Jagannath Temple’s Ratna Bhandar and kept its order reserved,” informed petitioner’s counsel Pitamber Acharya.
Acharya said that he had raised mainly two issues the first being, despite the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) submitting in its affidavit that there is a threat to the safety of the temple and the State government and the Temple Administration were not cooperating with it for the repair of the Ratna Bhandar, therefore the High Court should immediately issue an order in this regard.
Second, the State government had lost the key of the Ratna Bhandar which was found in the record room instead of the treasury. Since no inventory of the jewellery and gems kept in the Ratna Bhandar has been conducted after 1978, so, therefore we prayed for the conduct of an inventory of these ornaments by a high-level committee headed by the Governor, Acharya added.
