Bhubaneswar: As the cyclone Dana is approaching the coast, the outer bands of the system touched the coasts in Bhadrak and Kendrapara which was shown by Radar from Paradip, stated senior IMD scientist Umashankar Das.
According to the IMD, Cyclone ‘Dana’ is likely to hit coasts between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra on October 24 night or October 25 morning.
Under its influence, several places in Bhdrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur experienced light showers on Wednesday afternoon. These three district will be mostly affected by the disaster, IMD said.
Its impact will also be felt in Balasore, Puri, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurdha, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar.
Meanwhile, State government has expedited the evacuation drive in Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Balasore, Puri and Jagatsinghpur. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari urged the people to cooperate with the administration. The government has aimed to complete the evacuation process by Wednesday evening.
Around 10 lakh people will be shifted to cyclone shelters where the administration has arranged dry food, and cooked food for the evacuees.
