Bhubaneswar: Over 50 members of the Naba Nirman Yuva Chhatra Sangha, student wing of the Naba Nirman Krushak Sangha, we’re detained in Bhubaneswar after a scuffle with police during the Odisha Bandh today over the alleged ragging-related suicide of BJB College student Ruchika Mohanty.
Hundreds of members of the Sangha had taken out a mass rally in the capital city Bhubaneswar to mark the Bandh. As the rally reached Laxmisagar Police Station area, a scuffle broke out between the agitators and police.
The Sangha is demanding proper probe into the death of Ruchika who committed suicide in a hostel room in BJB College campus. Her body was found hanging in the hostel room on July 2.
