Over 6.7K Convicted Under IPC & Special Laws In Odisha Between 2020-22

Bhubaneswar: A total of 6,785 people were convicted under the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and SLL (Special & Local Law) between 2020 and 2022, as per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report of the state government.

The details were provided by Chief Minister Mohan Charn Majhi in the state assembly on Monday.

In a written response to a question by Jharsuguda BJP MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, Chief Minister Majhi stated that under the IPC (Indian Penal Code), 1,053 people were convicted in 2020, 685 people were convicted in 2021, and 3,578 people were convicted in 2022.

Similarly, under the SLL (Special & Local Law), 1,048 people were convicted in 2020, 74 people were convicted in 2021, and 347 people were convicted in 2022.

In his statement, Chief Minister Majhi noted that the NCRB reports for the years 2023 and 2024 have not yet been published.
