Bhawanipatna: Acting on a directive from the Superintendent of Police, Kalahandi, Jaipatna police seized a large cache of illegally transported explosives in a significant crackdown on unauthorized mining-related activities.

The operation, conducted under the jurisdiction of Jaipatna police station, led to the confiscation of 6.5 quintals of explosives and 115 detonators.

The contraband was being transported without valid clearance to Lakhbahali Crusher via a truck and a pickup van when it was intercepted near Jamchua Crusher.

A formal complaint was lodged at the Jaipatna police station by the Mines Department, triggering the operation. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the seized explosives were supplied by Anup Kumar Agrawal and Deepak Chand Jain, proprietors of Kalinga & Company based in Kantabanji.

Both Jaipatna police and officials from the Mines Department have launched a detailed inquiry into the supply chain, transportation method, and destination of the explosives.

Further legal action is expected as the investigation progresses.
