Balangir: Barely 48 hours after a murder was reported in Antala village, another horrific crime has come to light under the Deogaon police station limits of Balangir district. The partially burnt body of a young woman was discovered in the Kumunsi forest near Goelpita village, near Bandhapada police outpost under the jurisdiction of Deogaon police station, sparking widespread shock in the region.

According to reports, the body was first spotted by two goatherds in the forest, about half a kilometer off the Goelpita-Dumerta road. They immediately informed the landowner, who alerted the local police. A team from Deogaon police station reached the spot and launched a preliminary investigation.

Initial observations suggest the woman’s body bore severe burn marks on the face. Police also recovered broken bangles, a saree, and a shawl from near the woman’s body.

A scientific team has been called in to assist in evidence collection and forensic examination. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
