Bhubaneswar: The State Cooperation Department has notified the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif Season 2026.The scheme aims to provide comprehensive financial protection to farmers against crop loss due to natural calamities.
These include drought, dry spell, flood, inundation, cyclone, hailstorm, landslide and lightning.
For Kharif 2026, the notified crops are Paddy, Maize, Groundnut, Ragi, Cotton, Red Gram, Ginger and Turmeric in the notified areas. All eligible farmers can avail benefits under the scheme.
This includes loanee farmers, non-loanee farmers, and sharecroppers.
Aadhaar number or Aadhaar enrolment proof is mandatory for enrolment.
Farmers have been advised to keep their land records, bank account details and crop-related documents ready.
Loanee farmers can enrol through PACS/LAMPCS or concerned bank branches.
Non-loanee farmers can enrol through Common Service Centres (CSCs), Cooperative Banks, Commercial Bank Branches, Insurance Intermediaries, or approved digital platforms.
Officials of PACS/LAMPCS will also assist farmers with the enrolment process.Key features for Odisha
Farmers in Odisha can avail insurance coverage free of cost for up to 5 acres.
They are required to pay only Rs. 1 per plot for account validation.
The entire farmer’s premium is borne by the State Government, along with subsidy support from the Government of India. The scheme also covers localized calamities and post-harvest losses. The last date for enrolment under PMFBY for Kharif 2026 is 31st July 2026.
Farmers cultivating notified crops in notified areas have been urged to enrol within the stipulated timeline. For assistance, farmers may contact the nearest PACS/LAMPCS, Bank Branch, CSC, ARCS, DRCS, CDAO office, or insurance representatives.
