Bhubaneswar: The vigilance has apprehended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pravat Kumar Pradhan of Chandanpur Police Station in Puri for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. The accused ASI was the Investigating Officer in a land dispute case registered at Chandanpur Police Station.
According to vigilance, the complainant had approached the vgilance authorities after being asked for a bribe by ASI Pradhan to help him and his brother in the case. A trap was laid, and the Vigilance team caught ASI Pradhan red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.
The entire bribe money of Rs 15,000 has been recovered from the possession of the accused and seized. Searches are being conducted at two locations of ASI Pradhan, and an investigation is underway.
A case has been registered against ASI Pradhan under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station.
