Polling Official Hit By Biker In Umerkote, Dies

Nabarangpur: A polling official died after being hit by a biker at Umerkote in Nabarangpur district on Saturday. The deceased polling official has been identified as Alekh Randhari.

According to reports, Randhari was deployed as 5th polling official. He was deployed at the polling booth set up at Swami Vivekananda Vidya Mandir in Umerkote.

He was hit by a biker from behind while he was going to the booth after alighting from a bus.

Similarly, in a separate incident, two polling personnel were injured after the minibus carrying them overturned near Pitatali under Chikiti block in Ganjam district on Saturday.

The first phase of polling will be held in Odisha on May 13 (Monday). Polling will be held for the Parliamentary Constituencies of Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Berhampur and 28 Assembly Constituencies under these.
