Cuttack: The post-mortem report in the death of Inspector-in-Charge Beauty Mohanty of Chauliaganj Police Station has revealed that she died due to asphyxia (suffocation). The autopsy findings have added a new dimension to the case, raising serious questions about whether her death was a case of suicide or murder.

Beauty’s body was found inside her official quarters. The exact circumstances under which she suffered asphyxia are still unclear, leaving police probing multiple angles. Police are now examining whether she was strangled or if any other factor led to her suffocation.

Following the post-mortem report, the investigating team has intensified its probe. Call details of the deceased IIC are being thoroughly scrutinised. A police personnel from Pahala Police Station has already been questioned, and his mobile phone has been seized for forensic examination.

Besides, police are investigating the financial angle, suspecting that a money dispute could be linked to the incident. It was revealed that Beauty Mohanty’s last call was made to her husband, Sameer. Investigators are still awaiting full data extraction from her two mobile phones, including an iPhone, which has been sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Bhubaneswar.

Minor technical issues have been reported while trying to unlock one of the devices. A dedicated team consisting of one Additional DCP, one ACP, and two senior inspectors is handling the case.

With the post-mortem confirming death by asphyxia, police are now working to determine the motive and exact nature of the incident.

Further action, including the formal registration of the case as either suicide or murder, will depend on the evidence gathered from call records, financial transactions, and forensic reports. The case continues to generate significant attention within police circles in Cuttack.
