Baripada: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested a postal Inspector and overseer of Badasahi subdivision in Mayurbhanj district for allegedly accepting bribe from a subordinate officer of their department.
Inspector Rubi Das and overseer Sushant Kumar Das were apprehended by the CBI officers while receiving Rs 40,000 bribe from an employee. The CBI sleuths also seized some important documents from the rented house of inspector Rubi Das.
According to reports, Rubi and Sushant had called MBPA Ajit Kuamr Rout of Deopada post office to the Badasahi subdivision office with his documents for salary increment. The officers had demanded Rs 15,000 bribe from Ajit for processing the file of Ajit for salary increment.
Ajit had paid them the amount and later they demanded Rs 50,000 more for his work to get done. Finally, Ajit agreed to pay Rs 40,000.
Later, he lodged a complaint with the CBI following which the central agency formed a team headed by DSP Ranu Choudhury.
As per the plan, the CBI team caught them while Ajit handed over the amount to them at the residence of Sushant.
The CBI team seized the entire bribe money and raided the house of postal inspector Rubi Das before seizing several documents.
Both the accused will be forwarded to court on Sunday, reports said.
