Cuttack: Jajpur MLA and BJD Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das representing Jajpur district has been declared elected as the new President of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA).
All the total six candidates contesting for the various posts of the State Cricket body have been elected unopposed as no other candidates had filed nomination for any of the posts.
While Sanjay Behera has retained the post of General Secretary of OCA for the second consecutive term, Pankaj Lochan Mohanty has been declared as the Vice-president.
Similarly, while Bikash Pradhan has retained his position as Treasurer, Pravat Bhol has been elected as Joint Secretary, and Pratap Pradhan representing Angul district has been elected as the Apex Council Member of OCA.
The names of the new office-bearers of OCA were officially declared by the officer conducting the elections ML Mazumdar at the general council meeting of the OCA held at Barabati Stadium today.
Speaking to reporters after his election, Pranab Prakash Das said that focus will be laid on nurturing cricketers at the grassroots in rural areas and the upgradation of Barabati Stadium.
” At the outset, I thank all the office-bearers for having constituted this board unanimously. We have all unanimously resolved to lay emphasis on infrastructure and the game in all 30 districts and Barabati Stadium. A blueprint of which will be prepared soon,” Das said.
Das added that they will work for identifying and nurturing talents from the rural areas.
“Definitely, steps will be taken to develop Barabati Stadium into a world-class facility under the supervision of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” he said.
