Sundargarh: Pratik Naik of Balishankara in Odisha’s Sundargarh district has brought glory to his state and district by securing the 8th all-India rank in the Indian Statistical Service examination conducted by the UPSC.
According to his parents, Jai Bihari Naik and his mother Pratima Chowdhury, both teachers by profession, Pratik has been a gifted student since childhood. “He was obedient and followed a disciplined routine to achieve this goal. Every day Pratik studied for 7 to 14 hours preparing for the UPSC exams,” his mother Pratima said.
No doubt, his parents are very happy with his success today. Pratik’s father Jai Bihari Naik said, “There was hardly any day in his life when he did not study for 7 hours. Irrespective of festivities and celebrations at home, he followed a strict routine.”
After his primary education at Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir school in the suburbs of Balishankara, Pratik completed his high school at Giringakela High School. Pratik graduated from BJB College in Bhubaneswar and did his post-graduation from Banaras Hindu University in 2012.
Subsequently, Pratik left for Lucknow for UPSC coaching classes. He emerged successful in his second attempt at the UPSC exam.
Talking about his success, Pratik attributed his success to hard work, following a strict schedule, and the guidance of his parents and teachers. “You also need to sacrifice a few things to achieve your desired goals,” he said in his message to all those aspiring to crack the UPSC exam.
