Bhubaneswar: In a unique honour for Odia cinema, President Droupadi Murmu watched the Odia film ‘Shri Jagannath Nka Nabakalebara’ at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi.
The film, which explores the origin of the sacred Nabakalebara ritual of Lord Jagannath, was screened in the presence of the President and the entire cast and crew.
The film’s director, Soubhagyalaxmi Jena, along with the cast, including Siddhanta Mahapatra, Jyotiranjan Nayak, Sritam Das, Shivani Sangita, Pinky Pradhan, Anshuman, and Shankar Tripathy, were present at the screening.
Other notable attendees included the producer of the film, Bini Samal, Guru Dr Chandrabhanu Satpathy, film advisor Bibhuprasad Mohapatra, and Rajya Sabha MP Muna Khan.
The event was a celebration of Odia culture and art, and the President’s presence added zing to the event, underscoring the importance of preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage.
The film’s cast and crew expressed their gratitude to the President for watching their film and appreciating Odia culture.
Notably, the film Shri Jagannath Nka Nabakalebara is a devotional and historical depiction of the Nabakalebara ritual, which holds great significance in Odisha’s cultural heritage.
