Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has initiated the process for the election of Mayors in Sambalpur and Puri Municipal Corporations by issuing a proposal for the reservation of the Mayor posts.
According to the notification issued by the Housing & Urban Development Department, the Mayor post in Sambalpur Municipal Corporation has been kept Un-Reserved, while the Mayor post in Puri Municipal Corporation has been reserved for Scheduled Caste (Woman) category.
This proposal has been issued in accordance with the provisions of the Odisha Municipal Corporation Act, 2003.
Members of the public who have any objection or suggestion regarding this reservation proposal can submit their views in writing to the Director of Municipal Administration within 15 days from the date of publication of the notification. After considering all objections and suggestions, the state government will take a final decision on the matter.
