Puri: In view of the expected heavy influx of devotees for the auspicious occasion of Deva Snana Purnima at the Shree Jagannath Temple, the District Education Office, Puri, has announced a one-day closure of all schools within the municipal limits along with select nearby institutions on June 29, 2026 (Monday).
The decision has been taken in accordance with the directions of the Collector and District Magistrate, Puri, to ensure effective crowd management, maintain public safety, and facilitate smooth traffic regulation during the religious observance.
As per the official notification, all government, government-aided, and privately managed schools from Sishu Vatika to Class XII under the jurisdiction of the Puri Municipal Corporation will remain closed on the said date. In addition, institutions such as Mothers Public School (Gorual), Prabhushree English Medium School (Malatipatapur), and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (Puri Sadar) have also been included under the closure order.
Deva Snana Purnima, an important ritual observed at the Shree Jagannath Temple, marks the ceremonial bathing of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra. The annual event is known to draw large gatherings of devotees from across Odisha and beyond, forming a significant part of the temple’s ritual calendar.
