Puri: In view of the upcoming annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath on July 1, Puri district police held a coordination meeting with Hotel Owners Association here today.
A large number of tourists are expected to visit Puri during the Rath Yatra this year which will be held with the participation of devotees after a gap of two years.
In the earlier two years, participation of devotees was not allowed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The coordination meeting was held to ensure the safety and security of tourists while making their stay pleasant at hotels.
Briefing reporters, Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh informed that it was decided at the meeting that hotel owners and management will brief and sensitise the hotel reception and other staff on behaviour aspects while interacting with tourists.
Singh said that a 24×7 helpline number 6370967100 is being launched today which will be displayed near the reception centre of each hotel.
He added that DSP City JN Padhi will function as nodal officer for all tourist related issues.
The SP said that all hotels will ensure CCTVs installed on their premises are functional with a minimum of seven days of recording facility.
Besides, all hotels will be required to submit daily occupancy status to the concerned police station, he added.
Further, each IIC will create a WhatsApp group with hotels/lodges in their areas to have frequent communication and redressal of any grievance, the SP said.
