Bhubaneswar: The repair work of the Ratna Bhandar at Puri Srimandir will remain suspended for two days, February 12 and 13, due to the special rituals related to the Gaja Uddharan Besha.
Meanwhile, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has requested cooperation from all devotees during this period.
For the third time, the repair work has been suspended in February. Earlier Ratna Bhandar repair work was suspended on February 2-3 and 5-6 due to the Shree Panchami and Banakalagi ritual, according to sources.
Besides, the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration had decided to suspend the repair work of the Ratna Bhandar from December 25 to January 2 to avoid overcrowding and chaos during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
It is pertinent to mention that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has been entrusted with the restoration of the Ratna Bhandar. It had initially estimated a three-month timeline for the repairs.
The completion of these repairs will clear the way for inventorying and counting the ornaments stored within the vault.
