Bhubaneswar: A Vigilance court on Tuesday sentenced a retired Inspector of Supplies to undergo two years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) in disproportionate assets (DA) case.
According to an official press release, Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur on Tuesday sentenced Ch Shyam Sundar Patra ex-Inspector of Supplies (retired) of R Udayagiri block in Gajapati district to undergo RI for two years after convicting him for possession of DA to his known sources of income.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on Patra. In default of payment of the fine, the court ruled that Patra has to undergo further RI for one month more for the offence under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of pension of Ch. Shyam Sundar Patra, Ex-Inspector of Supplies (Retired) following his conviction.
