Bhubaneswar: A 50-year-old labourer  was trampled to death by a rogue elephant on Monday late night when he was on his way home in Dhenkanal district.

The incident occurred at Damol village under Parjang police station in Dhenkanal district.

According to reports, Anai Behera (50) was cycling back home from a brick kiln (Ita Bhata) around 10:30 PM when he was attacked by a wild elephant.  The rogue elephant trampled him, and he died on the spot.

With the help of family members, police and forest department officials recovered the body from the location and took it to Parjang Community Health Centre for post-mortem examination.

The incident has sparked fear among villagers living in areas prone to human-elephant conflict.
