Cuttack: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel on Tuesday at Cuttack railway station seized gold ornaments weighing about one kilogram valued at around Rs from one Palash Patra (37) who was travelling in the AC coach of Puri-Howrah Dhauli Express. Patra has been detained by the RPF.

During interrogation, Patra revealed to the RPF that he was carrying the gold ornaments for supplying to a jeweller. However, since he could not produce any documents in favour of his claim he has been detained.

“On the occasion of Rath Yatra, the RPF has constituted a special team to ensure the safety and security of the passengers. The team conducts round-the-clock proper checks of trains passing through. During checking in Puri-Howrah Dhauli Express, one person travelling in the AC compartment who was illegally carrying gold ornaments weighing around one kilogram has been detained and legal action against him is being taken,” informed Anil Kumar Singh, IIC, RPF, Cuttack to reporters.
