Bhubaneswar: Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir on Tuesday sentenced retired Revenue Inspector Ramesh Chandra Mishra to undergo rigoroous imprisonment (RI) for a period of two years for causing loss of government money.
According to an official press release, the court also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on Mishra and in default of payment of fine he has to undergo RI for six months for the offence under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)PC Act, 1988.
The court further sentenced him to undergo RI for a period of two years and to pay fine of Rs 10,000 and in default of payment of fine,
to undergo RI for a period of two months for the offence under sections 120-B IPC r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently, the release said.
The release stated that Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Mishra following his conviction.
According to the release, Mishra Ex-Revenue Inspector (Retired), office of the Special Land Acquisition Officer, LSIP, Bolangir was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)PC Act, 1988/120-B IPC for showing undue official favour to the beneficiary by giving double payments against some structures for acquisition of land, thereby allowing pecuniary to the beneficiary causing loss of Government money.
