Sambalpur Hits 39.4°C at 11:30 AM As Heatwave Continues Across Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Intense heatwave continued to grip several parts of Odisha on Thursday, with western and northern districts experiencing scorching temperatures.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) observations recorded at 11:30 AM, Sambalpur emerged as the hottest place in the state with 39.4°C, followed by Hirakud at 37.6°C. The state capital Bhubaneswar recorded 35.2°C, while Jharsuguda stood at 34.7°C.Other places also reported significant temperatures — Keonjhar and Chandbali recorded 33.0°C each, and Balasore registered 32.6°C at 11:30 AM.

While coastal areas like Bhubaneswar and Balasore recorded relatively moderate temperatures, the western Odisha districts continued to reel under severe heat.

The IMD has advised people to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to the sun between 11 AM and 3 PM, and take necessary precautions, especially the elderly, children, and outdoor workers.
