Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, a notorious gang of robbers, actively involved in inter-district robberies was arrested by Sambalpur police today.
Sambalpur Police officials arrested 10 members of the gang, who were involved in multiple robberies in the Western Odisha districts.
According to reports, the gang was actively operating in the districts of Sambalpur, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh.
While addressing the media, Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo, Superintendent of Police (SP), Sambalpur said, “The inter-district robbers’ gang is involved in a total of 21 cases, out of which 15 cases were registered in Sambalpur, 2 cases in Bargarh, 1 case in Jharsuguda, and 2 cases in Sundargarh district. The gang primarily targeted rice mills.”
Adding further, he said, “We have arrested 10 members of the gang and recovered 480 grams of gold, 165 grams of silver, 35 silver coins, ₹5,12,000 in cash, 2 Boleros, 2 newly purchased tractors, and four motorcycles, which were purchased using stolen money along with weapons.”
The police officials are currently investigating further aspects of the matter and other persons involved in the chain of robberies
