Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident early Sunday morning, a sand-laden truck rammed violently into the rear of a bamboo-loaded truck near Kalyan Mandap in Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar.
The high-impact collision caused long bamboo poles from the front vehicle to pierce through the windshield of the sand truck, penetrating deep into the driver’s cabin.
The driver of the sand truck sustained critical injuries and was trapped inside the mangled vehicle. Rescue teams and officers from Chandrasekharpur Police Station worked swiftly to extricate him and rushed him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Police have initiated an investigation, with preliminary reports indicating poor visibility and possible over-speeding as the primary causes.
This accident comes just hours after another serious crash on Saturday night in the same area. A speeding car reportedly lost control after hitting two scooters and then crashed into a road divider. Both scooter riders were injured in the incident, causing temporary traffic disruption as vehicles piled up before normal flow resumed.
Locals have urged drivers to maintain caution, especially during low-visibility hours. Further investigation into both cases is underway.
