Bhubaneswar: The senior resident doctor of SCB Medical College and Hospital accused of assaulting two women patients sexually in the name of treatment in the ECG room has been expelled, on Saturday.
The accused doctor identified as Dilbag Singh who has been working in the cardiology department was arrested after the relatives of the victim patients lodged a complaint against him.
After an emergency meeting of the SCB Medical College Council, the accused doctor has been expelled. A three-member inquiry committee led by the Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) investigated the incident and submitted a report to the government, sources said.
DMET had written to the SCB President seeking immediate action in the matter. A decision in this regard was taken after the emergency meeting of the Medical College Council yesterday, informed SCB Superintendent Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra.
It is pertinent to mention that the committee comprising Professor Santosh Kumar Mishra, Professor Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra, and Dean & Principal of SCB Roma Rattan investigated the matter.
