Bhubaneswar: Under instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian today visited Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das’ birthplace at Suando and took stock of progress of its redevelopment work.
The Lokeswar Shiva temple of Utkalmani’s village was found in a state of ruins.
Following request by the villagers of Suando, the State government has completed the renovation of the Lokeswar Shiva temple. The installation ceremony of the temple was held today which Pandian attended and participated in the ‘purna ahuti’.
Later Pandian visited and monitored the conservation of Utkalmani’s ‘Sathighar’, ‘Dhinkisala’, etc. He also visited the village pond, the museum and took stock of the progress made in their renovation. He expressed satisfaction over the progress made in the renovation work.
Utkalmani symbolizes service and struggle in the minds of the Odia people. He has been immortalized for his sacrifice for the country and the race.
Development of Pandit Gopabandhu’s birthplace and Suando has been done by the State government with the support of Pandit Gopabandhu’s family and the people of Suando.
