Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) and Press Information Bureau (PIB), Bhubaneswar, under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, organised a seminar on “Women in Gandhian Philosophy” to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti.
The event highlighted Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of women as equal partners in building a just and progressive society.
Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General, PIB and CBC, presided over the programme, emphasising Gandhi’s recognition of women’s vital role in the freedom struggle. He stressed that restricting women to domestic boundaries weakens society and advocated for education, empowerment, and awareness among women.
Distinguished Guest Dr. Hrushikesh Mallick noted Gandhi’s uncompromising stand against superstition, child marriage, and the plight of widows. Eminent speaker Dr. Himadri Tanaya Mishra highlighted Gandhi’s principles of truth, non-violence, and simplicity, while Guest of Honour Sambit Tripathy praised Gandhi’s bold step in placing women at the heart of his movements.
The seminar concluded with a cultural performance by CBC Bhubaneswar artists and a swachhata pledge taken by officials and staff, emphasising Gandhi’s vision of women empowerment, social equality, and a clean India.
