Bhubaneswar: The Kendra Sahitya Akademi on Wednesday announced the winners of the 2024 Yuva Puraskar and Bal Sahitya Puraskar in the Odia language category.
According to an official press release, Subrat Senapati has been selected for the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for his short story collection ‘Kadambana.’ Rajkishore Padhi has been named the recipient of the Bal Sahitya Puraskar for his children’s book ‘Kete Phula Phutichhi.’
Both authors will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each, along with an engraved copper plaque, at a special award ceremony to be held at a later date.
“The award, in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper plaque and a cash prize of Rs 50,000, will be presented to the awardees at a special function to be held at a later date,” the press release stated.
The Yuva Puraskar is awarded annually to writers aged 35 and below for outstanding literary contributions in any of the 24 recognised Indian languages. The Bal Sahitya Puraskar honours excellence in children’s literature across the same languages.
