Bhubaneswar: A 7-month-old white tiger cub has passed away at Nandankanan Zoological Park on Monday.
Born to parents Krishna and Rupa in November 2024, the cub was kept under observation when its health took a turn for the worse.
The cub had fallen ill in March and was isolated from its enclosure for treatment. After recovering, it was returned to its enclosure. However, the cub’s sudden death on Sunday has left park staff and visitors in shock.
The cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem examination, according to park authorities.
Meanwhile, the loss of the young cub has sent shockwaves among animal lovers and park visitors.
Following the recent death of a white tiger cub, Nandankanan’s current tiger population has been updated to 27. The zoo is now home to 18 normal-coloured tigers, five white tigers, and four melanistic tigers.
