Bhubaneswar: A devastating fire broke out in the Brahmabarada area of Jajpur district last night, completely destroying seven shops and causing extensive damage to property.
According to local reports, the blaze erupted around 2:30 AM in a cluster of shops. Panic-stricken locals immediately alerted the Baruan Fire Department. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control after intense efforts. However, by the time the flames were doused, all seven shops had been reduced to ashes.
Goods, cash, and other valuable items stored inside the shops were completely burnt, leading to heavy financial losses for the affected traders. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, though preliminary suspicion points towards a possible electrical short circuit. The local administration has initiated an investigation into the incident.
The traders whose shops were destroyed have strongly demanded immediate compensation and assistance from the government to help them recover from the losses.
No casualties have been reported in the fire. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
