Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, Fategarh Police detained three youths for allegedly gang-raping a young woman and blackmailing her with a viral video.

According to reports, the victim, a resident of Cuttack, had visited the Shri Ram Temple in Fategarh with her boyfriend on Sunday evening. While returning, three youths intercepted the couple near Pithakhai forest and allegedly assaulted the boyfriend and tied him to a tree.

The youths then allegedly took turns raping the woman and recorded the act on video, which later went viral on social media.

The victim filed a written complaint with the Fategarh police, following which the three accused were detained and an investigation was initiated. Fategarh police, meanwhile, registered a case in this connection.

The Nayagarh Superintendent of Police (SP) has taken cognizance of the incident and has ordered a thorough investigation.

Given the seriousness of the incident, police will recreate the crime scene today with the accused present to gather more evidence.

The incident has shocked the locals who stated that such incidents are rare in the area.
