Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself before poisoning his daughter to death. The incident took place at Debottara Lane 4 area under Town police limits in Nayagarh district.
Meanwhile, police have seized the bodies of the deceased father-daughter duo identified as Pulak Biswal and Palak.
As per reports, Pulak got married for the second time three months back following the death of his first wife.
On Monday, Pulak’s second wife had gone to her father’s house. After staying there for two days, she returned Nayagarh to her husband’s place, only to find the door locked from inside. She tried to open the door for a long time but in vain. Later, she became suspicious and informed the police.
In the presence of the local magistrate, the Town Police reached the spot late at night and broke open the door to enter Pulak’s house. To their utter shock, police found the body of the 5-year-old daughter lying on the bed while Pulak’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan.
Meanwhile, police have begun a probe into the incident to ascertain the reason behind Pulak taking such a drastic step, killing his daughter and then committing suicide.
Although the police have started questioning Pulak’s second wife and her family members, they have not found any strong reason behind the suicide.
The incident has sent shockwaves in the locality.
Residents are wondering why a person would kill his daughter and then commit suicide when everything seemed normal in his life.
