Bargarh: Bargarh police claimed to have arrested six members of a local looters’ gang who created terror in the city for the last few days.
The looters were active in the loot for past several days in the district. The Bargarh police had set up a special team to nab the looters.
Accordingly, the team carried out raids at several places and found they had sold some looted articles in Dungurpali and Bhatli areas. During the investigation, police caught the looters and seized two bikes, three scooters, two LED TV, seven mobile phones, 98 grams gold, 3.7 kg silver ornaments, two laptops, three batteries and two inverters.
Along with these materials, police also seized some weapons. The value of the seized articles is estimated to be over Rs 20 lakh, Bargarh SP Prahalad Sahai Meena said.
The looters have been forwarded to court. Further investigation is underway, he added.
