SJTA Files Police Complaint Over Lord Jagannath Land Encroachment

Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has lodged a complaint at the Baselisahi Police Station against the illegal encroachment and attempted handover of land belonging to Lord Jagannath at Matitota Mauza in Puri.

The SJTA said that an attempt has been made to encroach 109 plots of Khata No-38 in Matitota Mauza.

The SJTA has requested the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to take immediate action in this regard. The chief administrator has also requested the Collector and SP to intervene in the matter.

The public has been informed that any illegal transfer of the land of Lord Jagannath is totally illegal and will attract punishment under the law. The administration has warned individuals or organizations involved in such activities to refrain from illegal transfers.

SJTA chief administrator Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee said that any kind of fraud or illegal activity involving the landed properties of Lord Jagannath will be strictly dealt with.

“We are committed to protecting the property of Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannath. No fraud or illegal activity will be tolerated. The process of computerization of all land leases of Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu, C/O Temple Management Committee is now underway. Our aim is to make the sale or lease of land completely transparent,” Padhee posted on his X handle.
