IISc efforts to save country's 2L annual snakebite victims.

Bhubaneswar: A woman and her daughter died of snakebite at Rishabhuin village under Raikia block in Kandhamal district, on Wednesday night.

The deceased have been identified as Gurubari Nayak (35) and her daughter Subi Nayak (8), residents of the same village.

As per reports, all the family members went to sleep after having dinner. Gurubari and Subi screamed when they were bitten by a venomous snake. They were rushed to Bhanjanagar Sub-Divisional Hospital where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Police have, meanwhile, seized both the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.
