Bhubaneswar: : The Holy Trinity, Lord Jagannath and His siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, will visit the Snana Mandap for the ritualistic ceremonial bath on Snana Purnima.
The initial rituals have already begun. Daitapati servitors have entered the temple to start preparations.The Bahuta Kanta and Charamala rituals were completed last night ahead of the Snana ritual. Daita servitors performed the secret Bahuta Kanta ritual.
The Bahuta, made of Baula wood, is prepared to protect the sacred shoulders of the Mahaprabhu. Special carpenters make the Bahuta using a specific scale called Kantha.
Charamala (Ladder) has been tied to the Ratna Vedi for the Lords’ Pahandi Bije from the Ratnasimhasan. The Daita sevayats sought blessings from Lord Jagannath for the smooth conduct of rituals from Snana Purnima to Niladri Bije.
Last night, the Trinity was adorned with Khandua Pata cloth after the Pahuda ritual.The Daita servitors began the Senapata Lagi ritual this morning. Other rituals will follow. After the ceremonial bath, the Holy Trinity will fall ill as per tradition. They will remain in Anasara in a separate place.
Daitapatis will serve them with several secret rituals during this quarantine period. This will continue until Niladri Bije. After the Bahuta Kanta ritual, the Kotha Suansia entered the temple for the four-bandha. Tomorrow morning, after the Kotha Suansia leaves, the Pati Mahapatra will enter the temple for the Senapata. By 10:30 am on Sunday, the Senapata will be completed and other daily rituals will begin.
As per tradition, after the Devasnana Purnima ritual, the Daitapatis perform many secret services for the deities in the Anasara Pindi of the temple.
On the sacred occasion of Snana Yatra, devotees from across the country have started visiting the pilgrim town to witness the rare ritual. Puri police have made elaborate arrangements for the devotees. Special parking spaces have been arranged. Adequate security forces have been deployed in and around the city.
